Red Ribbon Week
Deerfield's 2025 PTA Chairperson - Maryam Hamidi
Red Ribbon Week is the nation's largest and longest-running drug-use prevention campaign. The National Family Partnership (NFP) coordinated the first National Red Ribbon Week in the 1980's. The NFP estimates that more than 80 million people participate in Red Ribbon events each year. The campaign is a unified way for communities to take a stand against drugs, and to show intolerance for illicit drug use and the consequences to all Americans. Schools, businesses, the faith community, media, families, and community coalitions join together to celebrate Red Ribbon Week in many ways.
At Deerfield Elementary, your PTA coordinates a committee of parents who decorate the school in red, plan week long dress up themes and acts of kindness, health and connection. This year the theme is "Life is a Puzzle - Every Piece Matters!" Help us celebrate as a united front each day:
Monday, October 27 - 'Piece by Piece'
Wear something that shows WHO YOU ARE - favorite color, sports team, cultural outfit.
Healthy choices start with YOU!
Tuesday, October 28 - 'Together we Fit'
Match with your friends or classmates.
Teamwork + kindness = the perfect fit!
Wednesday, October 29 - 'Power up your Pieces'
Rock your activewear & sneakers
Fuel your body with sleep, movement, and healthy foods.
Thursday, October 30 - 'The BIG Picture'
Wear RED for Red Ribbon Week!
Every puzzle piece matters - be inspired and make positive choices.
Friday, October 31 - 'Piece by Piece we Celebrate'
Wear your Halloween Costume!
Celebrate the fun pieces of life and the power of healthy choices.

Taste of Deerfield
Deerfield's 2025 PTA Chairpersons - Jennie Bolinger & Carina Hollis
2025 marks the second Annual Taste of Deerfield on November 7th from 5-7pm. Let’s celebrate our community by sharing our cultures through food, drink, dance, and activities! This event is free through preregistration on our website until 11/1. If you do not preregister, each person costs $5 cash at event check-in.
The event will be taking place by the lunch tables; there will be several food/drink tables, music, photo opps, and five cultural dance performances starting. The event culminates with a student parade. Please consider hosting a table for your country/culture. Grab some friends and host a table together! Have any questions, email dfptapresident@gmail.com.
We hope to see you there!
